Timber and/or rocks in heaps or windrows seem to be the best option if available, place them in 2 - 3 m water. Net hides are great in ponds where they are removed and cleaned regularly but tend to become clogged with silt/algae and sink if left to long in the water. Tyres are another option but I am cautious about using them as I am unsure if toxins may leach over long time and either harm the marron or cause residue problems in the meat.

Thanks Steve, I have used tyres as they are delivered free and are easily placed when the site is wet or under water. I have stacked them to form "reefs". I have also made bundles of teatree tied together with rope and dragged them out in the deeper water. The small marron seem to like the teatree. The latest newsletter was very informative as well.
